So..1 Year Out!

Hey guys!  I haven't written a post on here in a little over a year.  A TON has happened since I last updated everyone about my life, so here are the highlights:

-Once I returned home from Cape Cod, I had a month and a half of FULL TIME job searching.  It sucked.  I was stressed, depressed, and all around just not feeling great about myself.
-Eventually, I was hired by a local social service agency dedicated to helping seniors in the community.  I work as a Case Manager which is PERFECT, because that's exactly what I went to school for.  :)  It feels great being able to put my degree to work for me and get a little ROI (return on investment).
-Oct. 15, 2012 is when I started this incredible new job.  I'm almost coming up on my 1 yr anniversary here, so life has been wonderful.  I've learned a ton and absolutely love the work I'm doing.  Perfect fit!
-Ryan and I are no longer a couple.  But it's okay, I promise!  We're still extremely close and went back to being besties.
-In Feb. I had to get a new car.  Space needed new roters, brakes, brake pads, etc., etc., and it just wasn't worth it to keep throwing money into a '99 vehicle.  I ended up getting myself a silver 2010 Dodge Journey which is a large SUV.  The only 2 drawbacks are that (1) it is an automatic (I prefer 5 speeds), and (2) it is only FWD.  Since my job requires me to do home visits to many (most) of my clients, I am often traveling up back roads and up mountains, even in the middle of winter.  I wish I had advocated more for getting a 4WD vehicle.  Oh well, next time.  I am proud to say that I was able to get the loan for my vehicle all on my own (didn't need a co-signer!) so now I am truly able to say 'my' car and mean it! :)
-I've been to Washington, D.C. with Ryan last year for my birthday (my first time there)!  We stayed in a hostel for 7 days which ended up not having running water for 3 of those days, so we ended up having to get a hotel room about 2.5-3 days into that madness.  I think we almost reached our breaking point in seeing how long we could go without showering.  It was bad.  BUT we were able to see all of the main highlights and tourist attractions, so it felt great to cross all of the main monuments and museums off my bucket list.
-I've been paying HARDCORE on my student loans.  I crunched the numbers last night and by the end of this year if all goes well [I'll explain in my next bullet point], I'll have resolved $11,430 in my student loan debt.
-"If all goes well...."  Okay, here we go.  I have 3 different lenders for my student loans.  My federal ones through the US Dept of Education, some through VSAC, and one through this other loan mgmt company on behalf of my college called MyCampusLoan.  They are managing my Perkin's loan (instead of Champlain having to hire staff to work directly on managing every student's account).  Here's the deal.  There are certain circumstances in which you may be able to get your Perkin's loan forgiven.  You also have to have worked at your job for a minimum of 1 year.  I applied for deferment a couple months ago (because I only just found out that this might even be a possibility for me), and was approved--so right my now loan with them is not accruing interest.  YAY!  Before applying for deferment, my Perkin's loan was my first smaller loan I was really going after.  I wanted to get that totally paid off so I could snowball my payments and put the rest of the money that was going to my Perkin's payment toward VSAC or my federal loans.  But, since my Perkin's is in deferment and is not accruing interest, I'm working hard on my VSAC loans since they are still accruing interest.  Anyway, once I meet my 1 year anniversary at this fantastic job, I can send in a Request for Cancellation form.  I don't know if I will be approved, but I really hope so.  My other hope is that they will refund me the $1800 or so I've already invested in that loan.  Because I can put that towards another one of my loans.  So, if all of this goes my way, I'll be $11,430 out of student loan debt by the end of Dec. 2013.  GET IT.
-Ryan moved to E. Boston to continue his studies and get his Master's in Community Theater at Emerson College, so that's exciting!  I can't wait until I can go down to visit and spend a few nights with him.  I don't know Boston that well, but I imagine I'll be learning over the course of the next few years.
-Lastly, I'm trying once again to lose weight.  Now that I have health insurance through my employer (although I'm not sure how that's going to change once the Health Care Exchange takes over Jan 1), I have successfully lost about 30 lbs since mid January of 2013.  I went to Physical Therapy to have them train me in how to push myself, how to do which exercises with my body, and how to execute proper form with many of the different exercises they gave me to work on.  Besides exercising and trying to be more active in general, I have almost completely done a 180 on my diet.  I'm trying to stay away from processed food as much as possible, and focus more on fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, protein, etc.  There are still the days when I need to stop at McD's for a breakfast or lunch, because my job often has lots of time constraints, but I'm not making that the foundation of my diet any longer.  I can't wait to continue with this journey now that I have support from my PCP (primary care physician), and other local community agencies to help me reach my goals.  :)

Annd...that's really about it.  I'm sure I'm forgetting a few different highlights, but that's most of what has happened to me since August of 2012.

I hope I didn't bore you with all the minute details of my life for the past 13 months.  There's lots of exciting stuff going on, and I love being able to share all this with you.  :)

What are some of the main highlights of your life in the past year.  In what ways have you grown?  What can you do this year that you couldn't last year?

Happy September, everyone!  Here comes the next holiday season!!

Stream 3: A Proposition

I was talking with Ashley recently about plus size fashion and how frustrating it can be for me to go shop for new clothes.  Pretty much my entire wardrobe comes from Lane Bryant.  This isn't inherently a good or bad thing-but obviously it severely limits my style, choices, and affordable options.

I would enjoy looking through and shopping at a Torrid or Forever 21 (F21) Plus, but those don't really exist in Vermont.  Also, Torrid is in about the same price range as Lane Bryant, which means my family (mom and gram, specifically) buy pretty much all my clothes for me.  We're always in the store together so I can still get the clothes I pick out, but I can't wait to be financially independent and able to afford to buy my own clothes.

Smaller women have so many more options on where to shop.  This allows them the freedom to create their own sense of style, dress how they want to be perceived on any particular day, and have the flexibility in price ranges.  Not so with plus size women.  Bodies come in many different shapes and sizes.  Why should those of us who are bigger be left out of the fashion world because smaller women are more readily accepted as be beauty standard in society?

As it stands, unless you want to dress in bulky unflattering sweats purchased from your local drug store or wear skin tight clothing 2-3 sizes too small, you better have the money to afford the $50-$100 price range for a typical, average piece of clothing.  See?  Things can get pretty desperate.

So--I propose a revolution.  Plus size women and designers, gear up and take Fashion Week by storm next year.  Let's team up with some other INCREDIBLE designers and find or INVENT new cuts that make us look smokin'.  A-line, empire or high-waisted dresses do not always fit plus size women the way that they are intended to flatter smaller bodies and frames.  Let's get creative, think outside the box, and make something incredible for the plus size ladies.

Let's not be defined by our limitations.  Let's dress the way we want, the way that brings out our inner beauty, our inner strength.  Let's make plus size clothing and fashion affordable.  And lastly, let's remember that every body is beautiful.  Every woman deserves the chance to showcase all the beauty that her body holds.

From my brain to yours,
Megan

I'll Be Your Spark

I have finally found the right forums for the right subject matters for my online things.  :)  Blogger I plan to use for any longer posts or rants I feel I need to go on, Tumblr is a great way to find something quick and easy to post, and I've recently joined Sparkpeople.com (basically a free version of Weight Watchers) to get started on my weight loss journey....again.  Wish me luck, I'll need it.  :)

Also to aid me in my journey, I'm going to talk to Ryan to see if he'd like to join to be my online/virtual buddy to try to keep me focused and on the right track for losing the weight I'd love to lose.  :)  Maybe if the support is coming at me from all directions (in real life AND on the site,) I'll feel more like I have to stay focused and motivated.  Let us hope!

____________

In other news, I have a first date tonight with someone I gave my number to on Friday night.  :)  I'm pretty excited, and I think it'll go well.  I'll try to keep up with updates and such if I feel that I must write something about what happened.

Okay, well adios mi amigos!  I need to start my day and get my butt into gear.  Until next time!

Well, That's Disappointing

http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/so-whats-going-to-really-happen-with-todays-dont-ask-dont-tell-vote/politics/2010/09/21/12996

Yeah, kind of bummed about this.

At least it is a step.  Hopefully Congress will vote to continue the debates on all of the amendments and such for the "National Defense Authorization Act"-which will include continuing the debate of the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell (DADT.)

At the end of this article it is stated that the repeal for DADT vote probably won't actually happen until November.  Keep your eyes peeled.  <3

_____________________________________________________

In more micro-related news:

I'm back to 270.  *Sigh*  Probably has something to do with the fact that I keep getting convinced to buy food every night.  Someone ends up saying they're hungry (usually me, but then an hour later everyone else chimes in,) and this leads to a snowball effect of Cheesy Waffle Fry Goodness every few days.  Which isn't helping, obviously.

Also, I haven't been very good at entering food into Weight Watchers.  Which sucks, because I'm paying for this every day.  I need to do a better job at staying on track.  At least I'm paying for it now and not my grandmother-so I don't feel quite as bad as I could.  It's a bit difficult because my schedule requires me to be up on campus for the majority of the day.  And I don't always find myself near a computer.  I was originally planning to use my iTouch to access the internet and enter my food that way, but the Weight Watchers website requires Flash in order for the trackers to work.  Which I don't believe iTouches are capable of.  Eff my life.

But, that's another excuse.  Another way to try to convince myself that it isn't all my fault.  I want this weight loss rather badly so I don't understand why I can't stay focused and just DO what I need to DO to make it happen.  Yeah it's going to be a hell of a lot of work, and I get that.  But once I'm where I want to be, all's I'll have to worry about is maintaining the lifestyle I've already created for myself.

I am really interested in the "rewards center" part of my brain.  Obviously that part of me has been extraordinarily spoiled and therefore I crave things I shouldn't be having more often.  Of all the indulgences I've had throughout my life, I can't blame it for wanting to continue being satisfied.  I'm curious to see if there's a way I can flip it so that it feels rewarded when I choose a salad instead of a few pieces of pizza (which doesn't fill a person up anyway-you're hungry about 2-3 hrs later.)  It would be awesome if I could get a scientist involved to do a study on me and to see what exactly the hell is going on.  I have willpower and drive to do and take care of certain things in my life, so I don't understand why that can't be applied to all other areas of my life.  Why can't I take my dedication in being a good student and working hard for my good grades, and have the same kind of motivation and dedication to take care of myself?  There are others that I know that make it seem so easy.  I'm jealous.  I hate that I can't bring myself to use my free time slots during the day to go to the gym and get moving.  I hate that I get hungry very soon, and that I can't find things high enough in fiber/protein to keep me full for the "correct" amount of time without forking over a crap ton more money for Luna bars or Cliff bars (which are amazing, but sort of expensive.)  I hate that I'm back to where I started, and I have no idea how to get back on the horse again.

I feel a bit lost, and I'm worried because there's a part of my brain that doesn't care.  Part of me feels like I'm always meant to be between 260-270, no matter how hard I try.  My body gravitates toward that weight constantly.  It's so much more frustrating than some people realize.  I understand that there is such a thing in existence where your body has its "happy weight"-where if you're a few pounds over or under, you don't feel quite right.  Which is interesting.  But being 5' 6" and 270 lbs, that's considered "severely obese" according to BMI charts.  (Also, because I have that much weight, it's sometimes hard for me to tell the difference that a few pounds can make.  It just doesn't seem like that much to me.)  Can a body be happy and extremely unhealthy/obese at the same time?  Maybe I've just been this weight for so long that my body isn't ready to recognize that I shouldn't be this heavy.  I've got genetics stacked up against me in all directions, and I really am at a point where I'm feeling quite helpless.  If I could have a professional nutritionist to talk to and someone who's certified to work with me, that would be awesome.  But, oh hey, guess what?  I don't have any health insurance right now because the college hasn't sent me my new cards for the year.  Also, even with that, it wouldn't cover the cost of me being able to see someone on a regular basis, or at all, really.  Fucking love America.

I'm going to go sulk in my own self pity for a little while until I feel a little better.  And try not be so miserable when I think about the salad that is going to be my lunch, because I decided to drink about 3 cups of chocolate milk this morning (hey, I was thirsty and it's supposed to be filling,) and now I have like, 6 pts left for the day.

I could really use some support right now; I don't feel beautiful anymore.

-5

Hello, everybody!

Whew, this weekend has been such a rush.  The Last Exorcism, party with Jess Lowell, and Contra Dancing all rolled into one, fun-filled adventure.  :)  I just wish it would never end.  But it will, as all things have to.

I have some great news to share after my staggering 10lb gain last week!  I lost 5!  So, essentially I'm right back to where I was before I started Weight Watchers for the 2nd time this past summer.  Thinking about it that way is definitely frustrating, but hey, at least I didn't gain another 5.

As I've learned with Weight Watchers, you're going to screw up sometimes.  Actually, lots of times.  It's inevitable.  Losing weight is HARD work.  It's not something you can commit yourself to, and expect to happen right away.  It definitely isn't something for the weak-willed people of the world.  (I have issues with my willpower often enough, so I'm speaking directly from personal experience, here.)  A "diet" can't be this wishy-washy food and exercise plan that you follow sometimes, and then wonder why it isn't working for you.  When you're in the business of losing weight-it's go big or go home.

A support system can make ALL the difference in the world.  I'm very lucky to have such a strong support system from all of my friends and family, whenever I need them.  They keep me strong and motivated (except for those times when the friends aren't thinking and decide that supper for the night should be Wings, but then it's all up to me whether I want to comply or not.)  Unfortunately I usually do-the cafeteria on campus isn't always as appealing as I think the staff would like.  But, I mean, at least we get to eat.  :)

Last night I went Contra Dancing with Ryan, and two of his Theatre friends from UVM (Alice, and Zoe), at Edmund's Middle School here in Burlington.  What a blast.  :)  Some of the same people are still dancing as the ones Ashley, Velvet, Ryan, and I experienced the first time we went.  Contra Dancing is such a beautiful art form.  When everyone knows what they're doing and when the ladies that have been doing this for years are making it all look so effortless, Contra Dancing's appeal certainly shines through.  I was thinking about whether they have a formal Contra Dance later in the year where all the ladies and gents dress up in formal wear and then come to pull this off.  I think it would be gorgeous!!!!!!  :)  Ryan and I learned that he needs to work on his frame and that I need to (still) work on how to spin correctly.  Aww..dancing lessons!  Well-moral of the story for all this-Contra Dancing is INTENSE.  After one dance I'm sweaty, gross, can't breathe, and for every 1 dance that I dance, I need to sit out 2.  Hahaha.  That's pretty bad, but hey, I have a lot more weight that I'm throwing around than all the rest of those people.  If there  was a weekly class or dance offered somewhere that pulled off a Contra Dance for an hour or two, I would totally go to that.  It would increase my stamina, my confidence in some of the moves, and maybe I could even learn a few extra fun moves to throw in as well.

You can really learn a lot about a person by the way they dance.  :)  Obviously you want a partner that can keep up with you, but not one that wants to swing you around 110 mph so that your feet don't even get the CHANCE to touch the ground.  (I mean, unless you're into that sort of thing...)  There were some people that I felt safe and comfortable with, and others that I felt like I had to take the lead-which is not fun.  A person really learns a lot from moving their body with someone else.  I believe it is an experience everyone should be able to have.

All in all, everything went well.  My core and my thighs hurt a little today, but right now I'm in the mindset that I want to Bounce and Swing every guy I come across with.  And that could potentially be awkward....I don't know......   ;)

In the end, I'm still working on losing weight.  Unless something terribly interesting happens in the next week that I just can't WAIT to blog about (it'll probably happen,) I'll check back in again next Sunday with how I've done.  Please, please, please wish me luck.  Until I feel myself sliding back down into the 250s I won't feel as though I'm doing a super fantastic great job.

LOVE!

I'm Going To Be Hot

Finding a bathing suit when you're a size 22/24 is difficult.  Finding a bathing suit when you're any size, really is always going to be difficult.  But especially when you're a size 22/24.  Why's that?  Because NOTHING IS EVER IN YOUR SIZE!!!

Currently I have a 1 piece that I have been comfortable in all summer.  (Now, don't judge me on the basis of being big and wearing a 1 piece.  I've worn 2 pieces in the past-and they were always tankinis.)  Unfortunately with the 1 piece, I frequently get frustrated when I'm in the water for an hour or so, then I have to pee.  So I get out, and it's like an epic battle in a porta-potty trying to wedge the entire suit down my body, say NOTHING about shimmying it back up.  (15 minutes of cardio right there.)

As you can see, that's a perfectly justifiable reason to miss a 2 piece.  A second reason is transitions-between public places that are beaches and public places that are not.  I like having something versatile that works in both places.  It's difficult to be able to transition well from street clothes to finding a way to get the 1 piece on before I get to the beach, and vise versa.

Enter, the tankini.  I still have a pretty large stomach/midsection area compared to most other people.  Therefore, I would be humiliated if I tried to wear a bikini.  Nobody wants to look at that.  I don't even want to look at that.  Therefore-covering the majority of the pudge is absolutely necessary.  As such, here's the top I bought:

Don't think I'm blind.  I know my tummy still looks pretty bad in this.  But I bought it for a reason-two, actually.  Reason number 1: My boobs look fabulous!!! And because I'm wearing this new bathing suit in Florida on Thanksgiving Break, I want to look fabulous.  Reason number 2:  Because I'm still working on losing weight, my plan is to flatten out my stomach-which will make this look much better on me.  Normally I'm not an advocate for buying clothes that don't already actually fit you, but a flatter tummy?  Awesome boobs?  I'm down.
:)  It's Florida beaches, I have motivation.  :)

The bottoms.  They are on their way.  I went to my local Lane Bryant today to find a bathing suit bottom as other stores like Macy's, Maurices, Old Navy, Kohl's, JcPenny's and others either don't sell bathing suits or don't actually sell them in my size.  I liked the skirt bottom because it helps hide a little of my thigh pudge, but you know what?  Any skirt-ish kind of bathing suit is hard to wear under any pair of pants because it adds even more bulge to my already bulky frame.  It's just adds a size or two and makes me feel worse about my condition.  SO-I decided to just go with regular bottoms.  Not shorts.  Not a thong.  Just regular bottoms.

These ones, in fact:

I think that together, these pieces will make a wonderful suit, and I'll feel wonderful when I slip into it.  What I also love about the top is that the strings for the halter are small.  Which means a large reduction in tan lines.  (Which is something else I'm all for.)  Yeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh man!!!!

Toes.

Anywho, I really think I have a good chance at pulling this off.  The suit only requires that I drop 1 size by November, which I don't feel is asking too much of myself.  If I can continue to do my best to eat and drink healthy (partially to drop some weight, partially so I don't get sick because colds are already spreading around campus,) then I feel like I have a wonderful chance at looking good down in Florida.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!  Better yet, leave me some love!

1/2 Fail

Hellllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooo Blogosphere!

So-I have some news.  I half failed this past week.  Now, I've been EXTRAORDINARILY active.  Like, walking nonstop to and from the U-Mall, but...I have some bad news.

Somehow I managed to gain 10 lbs in a week.  Yeah....I know, right?  Despite having walked literally half my ass off (which is sad because I LOOOVE my butt,) I still managed to gain all that weight.  Now-I didn't splurge in copious amounts or anything like that.  My theory is that since I've been so active, I've been building muscle.  My grandmother's theory is something to do with water retention and the fact that last week was 90 degrees every single day, and something or other to that effect.  Maybe it's both?  I'm not sure.  Either way, I know I'm slimmer (see "Looking Down: I See Boobs"), but it sucks that I still have to carry all this extra crappy weight around with me.

Zumba is still going wonderfully.  Lisa is my instructor here on campus.  (We took Kickboxing together last year.)  Zumba is much more fun, though.  :)  I am always so tired on my way to Zumba, but by the time I leave I've been sweating and the endorphins have kicked in, so it makes the rest of the night go easier.

On another note....Whale's Tails!!!!  Ryan's recounting of this excellent trip is here; Ashley's is here.

This sums up the Meg Ryan relationship...

See!  I'm not lying.  I have lost some of my tummy!

Mmmm hmmm.

Effing Adorable.
Originally Ashley Ryan and I had decided that Sundays we would use to explore our area via hiking, or doing some other bonding activity.  Ryan and I were going to show Ashley our "spot" that we found last year this Sunday, but instead after looking through What's Good (a little booklet 7Days puts out at the beginning of every school year for us kids,) we found that there's a secret path up to actually touch the Whales' Tails that can be seen coming North on I-89.  So, we decided that for 20-30 minutes we would wave at traffic.  Another Megan in my COR class and I randomly came across each other in Dirt Chic downtown (another place we decided to explore,) and I later found out that Megan saw us while we were at the Whale's Tails.  WHOA.  Welcome to VT-small world.

All in all, the Whale's Tails trip was a success.  Plus, multiple double rainbows showed up.  (Check here for the musical rendition.)  It was wonderful.

What wasn't a success however was getting a ride back to campus.  The CCTA bus decided it was totally okay to be 25-30 minutes late.  Which would have been fine, had it not started raining.  5 minutes before the water started falling from the sky:

Yes, we're sitting in the grass waiting for the bus.  Soon after Ashley took this picture, the Heavens opened up and water splashed everywhere.  It was an ugly experience.  After making a call to Sketchy Josh to come pick us up, the bus decides it's an awesome time to show up.  Obviously.  This followed by a text to Sketchy Josh telling him he doesn't have to pick us up and waiting the next 40 minutes to get back to campus= a really bad trying to get home trip.  I mean, obviously it was great in that the memories will be there forever.  But-it was cold and wet.  Oh well, at least we got to order Wings (Honey BBQ Chicken Wrap with Cheesy Waffle Fries,) and marvel in the fact that we made it back alive.

Ahhh....the tales of epic travels.

Until next time.

Looking Down: I See Boobs!

Soooo....some of you may be baffled at the title.  Understandably so.

Here's what I mean.

When I came to college, I was overweight enough where when I looked down the front of my body, I saw boobs and then a few inches of protruding tummy beyond that.  Now when I look down...I just see boobs!!! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!  This means I've probably lost some inches on my tummy area, but I'll be able to validate that more when I'm able to find some quiet time to strip down and take my measurements.  (It's really rather difficult in college with people around all the time.)  I'm not knocking it though, all summer I craved more interaction with people my own age.  Well, now I've got it.

I'm very excited for weigh-in on Sunday.  Also, I've gone in to reset my WW points.  I had been allotted 32 points per day, but now that I've indicated that I'm walking most of the time, I'm allowed 37 points per day.  No WONDER I've been starving at the end of the day.  I'm doing some serious calorie burning by walking everywhere (especially to Ryan's dorm room-which is 5 stories up-and elevators are not an option.)

To add on the subject of my diminishing belly bulge, I feel like I can account to the other reason I've lost some of it.  First, there's the exercise portion which obviously helps, regardless.  But then there's the food choices.  Case in point:  I looooooove warm bagels with cream cheese.  They taste so good, and it's essentially a comfort food.  However, bread expands in your stomach-therefore creating extra pudge and bloat during the day.  I've been really careful about choosing lots of fruits in the morning for breakfast (I need to start working more protein in in my breakfasts as well-but I'm working on that,) and having at LEAST 1 salad a day with either lunch or dinner.  I like to try to have a bigger lunch because then your body has the entire rest of the day to digest that.  Dinner should be something simple yet effective.  Half a plate of veggies or fruits, 1/4 plate of protein/fiber, 1/4 plate of whole grains.

I'm having a bit of a battle with the "whole grains" thing.  The prepared meals I've been getting are more geared either towards straight up carbs (lunch), or lots of veggies/healthy stuff that'll digest within the next hour or so (dinner-usually.)  Maybe I should work on making deli choices for lunch instead, and then asking for whole grain bread.  That may help.  :)  Plus any cold cut means will be protein.  Hmmm...excellent.

Also-on a side note.  I splurged last night.  It's been around 90 degress EVERDAY of college so far.  It's sooooooo hot.  Vermont is NOT supposed to be 90 degress.  Ever.  Okay, maybe one or two days out of August, but not for weeks at a time.  It was in the 70s and 80s before I left for college back in Lyndonville, and now that I'm back in Burlington where the weather is naturally about 5 degress warmer than home anyway, the temp decides it needs to skyrocket.  Because of this, I had a chocolate creemee for desert yesterday with Hershey's chocolate sauce.  I don't regret it.  :)

Anywho, I've got to wrap up this post for now because I have class in a half hour and I'd like some time to center myself before going up to campus for 3 classes.  To everyone out there-good luck with your weight loss plan or with your making healthier lifestyle choices plan!  I'm always here...going through the same process with you.

Chin up, kids!

How I'm Doing

Hi, all!  So, weight loss!  My next weigh-in day isn't until Sunday, but I just want to let you all know what's going on for me right now.

Basically, I'm throwing my points system out the window for this week.  After move in day (which was the day I made my last post,) I've been SO incredibly active.  Also, it's been about 90 degrees every day since, so while you're sitting on the couch, you're sweating.  It's basically the best weight loss plan ever.  (Kidding...kind of...)

SO-with Weight Watchers, in order to calculate how many points per week you're allowed, you indicate your current weight and what your activity level looks like.  Well, obviously when I was home this summer I was sitting most of the time.  Now that I'm back at college, I'm up and going almost all the time, so I'm burning through calories left and right.

I think I've probably lost about 4 lbs through sweating the past 4 days alone.  But I digress.  Essentially, I think I've jumpstarted my metabolism with all the force of a great typhoon.  (Little reference to Disney's Mulan.)  So because of this, I'm finding myself becoming hungry a lot sooner than I'm used to.  Also since I've been back at college, I've been doing my best to eat lots of fruits and vegetables throughout the day.  Unfortunately, the sucky drawback with increasing fiber intake is that sometimes you become kind of gassy.  And in college, as everyone knows, there's no place to really go to fart.  It's horrible!  Seriously, I've had conversations with Eden and Ryan about this my freshman year of college.  And I don't mean gassy just in terms of farting, but also in terms of your stomach and gastrointestinal tract making weird noises randomly throughout the day.  I know that's probably TMI for some people, but I'm being completely honest with all of you what you sometimes have to go through.  I know that a lot of this is my body just adjusting to getting the nutrients it needs, but seriously.  It's difficult sometimes.  Haha.

So to wrap up, basically I think I'm doing good with my weight loss.  I had more substance in my meals today because I realized that I'd be getting hungry a lot sooner than usual.  More protein and more fiber, yo!  One of my regrets about our cafeteria is that the caf doesn't usually serve yogurt beyond breakfast.  Which is really sad.  Obviously.  Since they usually have granola.

But-whatever.  I'm going to keep doing the best I can and trying to stay active and healthy to the best of my ability.  That's all anyone can ever ask of you.

Best of luck to everyone out there!  Keep me posted on what's happening for you!

Back To B-Town; Staying the Same

Helloooo everyone!

So much has changed since the last time I posted.  Whoa.  Well, to start, I'm back in Burlington, I've managed to stay the same weight-wise from last week after going over by 31 points on Weight Watchers (no idea how I managed that,) and I'm also currently single.

Life feels good right now.  I'm in my own little happy place, I'm back with my "other" family, and my dorm is still here.  I missed it soooooooo much so it feels fabulous to get my bed back and to be back in my own suite.  Ahhhh....what fun!

Another little awesome tidbit for this year is that Ryan and I are sharing our dorms 50/50.  I've got half my clothes up in his single, and he has some of his clothes down hanging in my closet.  It's going to be lovely.  :D  I can't wait for this year to get rolling.  It's going to be wonderful.  I can't believe I start my whole new schedule tomorrow and have to start getting back into the swing of things.  Everything is slowly falling back into place, and it's really quite wonderful.  <3

I failed last week on reporting my measurements, but I intend to fix that and keep up with it.  Unless maybe it's better for me to record once a month?  Because I've spent the whole day moving in and around Burlington, I'm a little tired to go get up and measure all body parts right now.  If I find some free time tomorrow I will do my best to get on that for you all.  Thank you for bearing with me and being patient.

For now, I'm signing off.  It's been a very long day and I need some beauty sleep for tomorrow.

Much love!

260

Heyyyyyy everyone!

TODAY IS WEIGH IN DAY!  As of this Sunday, 8/22, my weight is down to 260!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLLA!  That means I've dropped 5 lbs in a week.  Again, this isn't the way the weight is going to peel off for my entire time on Weight Watchers, this is just the easy stuff.  The bloat/water weight/whatever else you want to call it.  From here on out it's about to get hardcore.  Tonight is going to be a challenge because my family and I are going out to eat after I'm out of work to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and now my weight loss (which they don't yet know about.)  This means that I'm not going to know point values of foods until after the fact...which could potentially really suck.  BUT-my weekly extra points have refreshed themselves because it's a brand new week.

In other, somewhat related news- I GO BACK TO CAMP CHAMP IN 7 DAYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!  Ryan and I have been counting down the days until we move back to Burlington.  Aug. 29th is move in day for both of us, so we're VEERY excited to get back with our friends and live on our own again.  Ryan's grandmother was right in saying that once you've lived on your own for a while and then come back to live at home, it isn't quite the same.  Lots of little changes that are made at home while you're gone amount to an entirely new lifestyle by the time you get back in your house.  It's weird.

The other-more directly relevant-reason I'm excited to get back to Champlain is because of me being able to make healthy choices-the salad bar is ALWAYS there, and there's always some kind of soup out (even if I think I don't like it-I need to get over that and have a bowl anyway.)  Also, after I have my workstudy schedule, I'll be able to fit in what days I'm doing exercise and when.  I miss working out at our gym, and I'll be very glad when I can get myself into a set routine and get all hardcore with the gym buffs.  (Insert football-esque grunt, "UGH!" here.)

Thank you again to all you amazing lovelies out there who are cheering me on every step of the way.  I couldn't do it without all of you!!!

<3 Megan <3

P.S. I realize that I'm too lazy to take down all my measurements this morning, but I promise I'll do it within the next day or so.  <3

Happy 100th Post to Me!

Hello, my lovelies!  This is my 2nd blog post in the span of 24 hours.  I'm totally on top of this!  :)

This is my 100th blog post here on blogger.com, and I just want to think for a moment on what a journey I've been on throughout these 100 posts.  Whoa.  That's intense.

Nostalgia aside, I want to inform you all of an AWESOME thing happening in our country right now.  As I was reading my monthly issue of Glamour, this feel-good idea was brought up yet again, after having previously seen it in a former issue.  OperationBeautiful is this wonderful thing where women are inspiring other women to realize their natural beauty.  So, how do you do this?  Random acts of post-its.  What you do is write down an inspirational message on a post-it, and stick it to a mirror in a bathroom stall, on the mirror, or somewhere on a subway, bus, or train for other women to find.  Messages usually go something like "Smile.  You're gorgeous.  Operationbeautiful.com."  It's such a sweet thing to do, and doesn't really take much time out of your day.  Everyone needs a pick-me-up at some point in their lives, and seeing a post-it telling a woman she is worthy can sometimes be all it takes to turn her day around.  Make each other smile, spread the love.  Tell all the women in your life they are beautiful and deserve the world.  Because seriously, we do.  ;)

In other good news-3 days into Weight Watchers I've lost 5 lbs!!!!  Now-to all of you out there who may not know, the weight that is coming off me right now is likely just bloat, and water weight.  This is the easy part.  All the weight I'm losing hereafter is going to come off much harder.  That doesn't mean that I can't still revel in my awesomeness and be proud of myself for an evening.  Guess what else I even did today?  26 minutes on a stationary bike!  Okay, so earlier I posted about how I was going to read and exercise all day at the same time?  That didn't work out.  Reading took too much concentration, and it's very hard to concentrate when you're breathing heavy and sweating.  I didn't even make it a full half hour because I mis-timed myself (I was using Crest Whitestrips left over from the box I bought about a year ago,) and so I had to stop and take the strips off before a full 1/2 hr on the bike.  That's okay with me though-my toes were numb.  Haha!  I just want to point out that although this sounds ridiculous (26 minutes on a stationary bike-that's it-really?), it's more exercise than I've been getting all summer.  I felt awesome from all the endorphins afterward, and it was a good place for me to start.  I regret to inform you that I did not make it to the treadmill, and after those 26 minutes I spent the rest of the day reading in bed, however I feel doubly accomplished because I finished the book I was expecting was going to take me another 2 days to read.

This is especially awesome because I've still got 12 books I'd like to read before going back to college.  (That's over a book a day for those of you that don't remember that Aug. 29th is my move-in day for Champlain.)  10 days left as of tomorrow.  Yeah, whoa is what I said too.  Tomorrow is my last full day of work at Kinney's (I still have a few more days of the 5 hr closing shifts to work,) so this really feels as though summer is FINALLY wrapping up.  I miss Ashley so much, but I'm also very well aware that once I'm in B-town I'll be missing Mitchell incredible amounts also.  I just can't ever win.  Haha!  Ah, well, such is life.  All the suckyness I have to endure now I hope will pay off in my future.

I won't keep you all much longer.  This is my second book-ish post I've created today, and I know everyone has better things to do than to read about my life all evening.

Thank you for tuning in, as always.

Measurements...and Baffled By 1/2 Cup

Hi, all!  So, this post is about all of my measurements of my body, as well as measurements in general of food and the like.  Above you'll find a full-body shot of me.  This was taken before I left Burlington this last semester.  I basically still look the same, but there it is.  As you can see, the majority of the concentration of my extra weight is in my tummy/gut area, so that's where I'm really looking to start losing it.   And yeah, I know my arms are kind of flabby too, but honestly, who doesn't have flabby arms these days?  A little fun fact for you: your arms are actually the easiest part of your body to tone.  Seriously.  Try doing some sets with free weights for about a week, and you'll see what I mean.

Now, as of last night, I decided to go out and buy a tape measurer, and take down all of my measurements.

Here's what I got (keep in mind that the numbers are recoreded in inches):
17-Aug

R Arm 17

L Arm 19

Bust 50

Waist 48.5

Belly 53

Hips 56.5

R Thigh 28

L Thigh 29

Okay, so-obviously those numbers are pretty large.  BUT, that's why I'm on WW to bring everything back down under control.  As of yesterday (2 days on WW), I've already lost 2.5 lbs.  YEAAAHHHHH!!!  My plans for today are to work on reading a lot of books I would love to get read before I leave for college-while walking on the treadmill, or on the stationary bike.  Killing 2 birds with one stone.  It's awesome.  <3

Now, who here has heard of Fiber One cereal?  Take a moment, and go here.  Okay, so try to suppress the urge to roll your eyes, scoff, and reach for the nearest box of Lucky Charms.  I know, I was in that same place about 2 weeks ago.  I decided to try a box of Fiber One from my work last week.  It was the really ugly looking bran kind that you see on the Fiber One homepage.  Turns out, it doesn't just taste like icky bran with no flavor whatsoever.  There's like a hint of sugar somewhere (I think it may be honey?) so you're actually able to withstand the taste enough to eat the product.  Amazing!!!!   Now- what totally blows my mind (and I'm still not completely sure that I'm done being shocked,) is that 1/2 a cup of cereal is one serving.  Now, sidestory:

I'm used to having an entire bowl of cereal when I eat cereal.  The reason for this is because I usually only like "sugar cereals" (read: Lucky Charms, Reeses, Oreos, Frosted Flakes, Honey Nut Cheerios, etc.)  You can't actually have an entire bowl of Fiber One, or you'll blow up.  Okay, so that's not scientifically proven, but Fiber One fills you up incredibly fast.  I can eat that one serving of 1/2 cup, and I'm full.  If you had told me that 2 weeks ago I would have laughed at you and went back to buying my chocolate bars.  SERIOUSLY!  Haha!  Now, I know that with the price of cereal, and especially this kind of cereal, you're wondering why you should be spending money on a product that "may or may not work."  It does.  Trust me.  As soon as I have my next weigh-in on Weight Watchers, and take my next set of measurements, I hope you'll start to actually see the results with me.  Not all healthy food has to taste like $hit!  Make it fun!  Keep it interesting!  It helps.

Now, I would also love to end this blog on a happy note.  Today I finally realized that I am making a difference with my blog.  This is a shoutout to Rachel, who would like to jump on the rusty ol' lose-weight bandwagon with me, and start working on making a support and motivation group.  This is exactly what I'm looking for from all of you.  If I've inspired you or motivated to make even a small change in your daily routine that contribues to you living a healthier lifestyle, PLEASE tell me!!!!!!  I love hearing that I'm affecting other people with this blog.  It makes me feel like I'm not just talking to myself, and that other people out there in the blogosphere actually pay attention to what I have to say.  It gives me the fuzzies inside.  :)

Good luck on your journey!  To everyone out there, I'm going to pull the typical mom, and tell everyone to "make good choices" today!  I mean it though...your body will appreciate you feeding it right.

Ryan is a Bad Support System, But I Love Him Anyway

Hey all!  So this post is dedicated to Ryan!  2 Days ago I started WW, and it's been rough re-programming my mind to what I actually need to eat versus what I want to eat.  Points are consumed pretty quickly, man!

Anywho, yesterday Ryan and I went to go see my mom in her new managerial position at White's.  She's got a huge kick-ass office (well, "huge" being a relative term-in our part of the world, the one she has is pretty big.)  While we were looking through White's for AZ Iced Tea and even earlier at Price Chopper, comments such as, "Ohhhh!  We should come here to get candy for the movies instead!" kept spewing from his mouth.  Now, the problem isn't all in Ryan's obsession with all food (haha!), part of it is still in my brain and it's obsession with sugar.  My instant reaction is "YEAH, MAN! Let's do it!"  As you can obviously make out, this is bad for losing weight.
So, bottom line: Ryan needs to stop pointing out chocolate on sale to me, and I need to stop being in the mindset that I need sugar.  I love it so much, but I will overdo it if given the chance.  My willpower sucks.

On a lighter note, I've decided to invest in a tape measurer today.  I watched a Youtube video of this woman measuring her arms, thighs, belly, waist, etc-and showing how many inches she's lost off her body after a good chunk of time on WW.  That's SO awesome.  I feel that this will help me to visualize and hold myself even more accountable to all the weight I'm planning on losing.  She was so uplifiting!  The video can be watched here.

Onto other news, Champlain is just 12 DAYS AWAY!!!!!!  I'm so excited!!!! <33333333

Also-I've yet again worked my magic with a blank piece of paper.  Mitchell now has a kick-ass resume that is going to get him any job he'll ever want, and I've decided that perhaps I should take on the name:
The Resume Whisperer.

Very fitting, don't you think?

Alas, time has come for me to leave you and go to work.

I love you all.  Stay strong in your pursuits!

My Life Changing/Turn That Attitude Around Post

Dear Blogosphere,

Please give it up for yours truly.  Today I put myself back on Weight Watchers.  At 265 lbs, on August 15th, I am fed up with my weight and worrying about the health risks I am taking by being this big.  So, to commemorate this wonderful day, I want you all to raise a toast to your own health.  Make yourself some tea, add sugar if you like, and before you sip, take in the aroma.  Take the time to smell the flowers.  Take a moment to realize where you are in life, what you put your body through every day, and all of the amazing processes your body goes through to keep you healthy.  It does a lot of behind-the-scenes work that we don't even think about.  Congratulate it for what it does for you, and treat it right from here on out.

I'm SO EXCITED to be pulling up from the drudgery of the rest of my summer.  My first goal on Weight Watchers (probably henceforward referred to as WW) is to reach 251 lbs-losing 5% of my body weight.  I can TOTALLY do that.  I need to be very attentive and think about what I'm putting into my body, and perhaps even start becoming more active when I can.  Keep in mind that my end goal is 180.  WW is telling me that my ideal weight for my height is 124-155, however, I think this is b.s.  With my body frame and considering how long I've been as big as I am, 124 is never going to work for me.  I will look anorexic and underweight, and no one really wants to look diseased.  Personally, I love a girl with a little meat on her bones.  Not necessarily in a flabby manner, but just in a way that makes it looks like she eats right, and does healthy things for her body.

In short, it takes a lot of failures and a lot of times saying "I don't think I can do this" before permanent weight loss happens for someone.  I've fallen off the horse many a time.  It isn't about how many times you fall off the horse, its about how many calories you burn trying to get back on.  ;)  Right now I'm taking advantage of my new found motivation while I can.  I know WW worked for me before, I know it'll work again.  This is the only way I can hold myself personally accountable for my body.  Once I start feeling the endorphins from working out however, hopefully that'll make my journey a bit easier to handle-as well as all the unyielding support from all of you out there-my readers, my friends, my family.

Also, by joining WW, I will hopefully keep you all more up-to-date on my blog here, as well.  I'll check in once a week to let you know how my weekly weigh-ins are going, what progress I've made, and maybe if I have anything super yummy and good-for-you as a meal, I'll share my secrets.  :)

Until next time blogosphere,
<3 Megan

P.S.  It's time for me to finish the end of my final lab report for my last Intro to Biology class-tomorrow!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
P.P.S. Mitchell just came down to spend the weekend with me.  We had such a good time and I miss that boy so much already.  He sparkles...like a vampire.

Tribute To Eden and My Biology Class

This post is actually relevant to the topic of my blog!  I know I have had some pretty long lapses in time between blog posts, but I'm still thinking about you, blogosphere, even while I'm waiting for inspiration to strike before writing.

Now-to the subject at hand.

Our friend Eden does a lot of things that I'm sure she isn't aware of.  I'm not sure if any of her friends have said these things to her, but I'm going to explain why I love Eden so much, and what she does for me that makes me want to improve upon myself.

Every time I see Eden, she is always very conscious about the way she smells.  She almost always has perfume with her that she'll keep on hand to freshen up throughout the day.  This has inspired me through high school and even into college to invest in good perfumes that last with me throughout the day.  More recently, she's inspired me to keep a small bottle of some perfume with me at all times-just for when you need that extra oomph.  This isn't health-related specifically, but it's always just nice to smell good.  Smelling nice gives you a little more confidence, and if you're wearing perfume that you like, every time you smell yourself you get to smile.  And smile even more when you get compliments rolling in.  :)

I first heard about her being on Weight Watchers my senior year of high school.  I joined and over time I lost 15 lbs on it!  Unfortunately, I discontinued my membership because I thought I was going to be able to do it on my own.  At the time, I was losing weight and toning up because of Champlain Loses It, but after I got home for the summer....that all got thrown out the window.  245lbs was as low as I was able to get.  My body usually regulates itself around 260-and my goal is to get to 180.   This amounts to about 80 lbs that I (still) have to lose.  What a long journey.

In addition to just wanting to look fit, healthy, and "normal", I'm scared about what may happen if I don't lose the weight.  My grandfather has diabetes, and the majority of my family has heart problems and cholesterol/blood pressure issues.  I've been very lucky in that I have had excellent blood pressure my whole life, but that may not be the case another 5 years from now.  I want to add as many years to my life as possible, rather than deduct from them.  I love life.  I love Ryan, Ashley, Velvet, Rosie, Eden, and ALL of my wonderful, fabulous friends.  And I'm still very much in like with Mitchell.  I don't want to die before having a full, long life with everybody.  I also know that the longer I wait to lose this weight, the harder it is going to be.  Time to bite the bullet and get to it.

Aside from Eden injecting my with HUGE amounts of inspiration (she makes losing weight and staying toned look so easy and I know-probably more than most-that it isn't,) I have been taking my Intro to Biology class this summer.  These last 2 weeks my classmates have been giving their presentations on whatever topic they chose to research.  My friend Beth who sits next to me in class decided to research nutrition and what effects certain foods have on the body-and exactly how these foods affect your body (on a cellular level.)  Her presentation has recently give me that extra push I needed to get back on track.  I'm so sick and tired of having all this extra tummy flubber, and my gut.  I want so badly to be able to fit into a size 14/16 and feel hot, not just pretty when I'm walking down the street.  P.S.-ever notice how "pretty" is such a wimpy word?  Like, oh, well, you're ALMOST beautiful, but not quite.  So-you're just pretty.  I want to be recognized and appreciated for being as beautiful as I am.  I don't meant to say that in a conceited, narcissistic way, just a positive self-image way.  (Yet another thing Eden has inspired me to think of.)  I don't always have the best self-image, and I often burn myself out for other people.  She is like a breath of fresh air in the sense that she reminds me that I shouldn't be settling for other people.  I need to put people in my life who are on my level, and who are positive and who are going to recognize me and how awesome I am.  I shouldn't have to change everything I am for someone, they should accept me as I am or move on.

Lastly, both Eden and Beth inspire me to eat to be healthy and to make my body function correctly-not just eat to eat.  Eden gets SO excited about the Lyndonville Farmer's Market.  I love seeing how excited she gets about buying a whole head of local lettuce for $3.00, or water chestnuts at the grocery store.  Beth's presentation touched upon how it's probably better to stick with getting your vitamins and minerals from the food source itself, rather than through a supplement.  The reason it may be better is because of the way your body processes minerals in a supplement (pill), versus minerals found in natural food.  Vitamins and minerals found in a natural food source get digested through your intestines-and therefore are processed the way your body is supposed to process these nutrients.  If you take a pill for Vitamin B, it'll get digested through your liver, which is an entirely different process.  Maybe your body won't get as much of a benefit from a supplement versus digesting the actual food it is found in naturally.  Whoa.  Intense, huh?  Of course, if you aren't eating the right foods to get the vitamins and minerals, a supplement is perfectly acceptable.  You need to get certain nutrients into your body one way or another.  And if a pill form is the only way you can make that happen, well then have at it!

I'm noticing that I can't just do one or the other.  Everything under the category of "health" is interconnected.  Mental health, emotional health, and physical health.  If you are mentally and emotionally not well, then your physical health may begin to break down.  It makes sense.  An easy example of this is when you're trying to fall asleep, but you've got so much on your mind and you're so stressed out that you can't get to sleep for hours.  You then wake up the next day exhausted, more stressed, and really unhappy most of the day.  It only stands to reason that you can't improve upon one part of yourself without also working at least on some other part of yourself-on some level.  I mean, as you're losing weight don't you start to feel more confident and buoyant in your own body?  That's a positive connection.  You're physically taking care of your body, and your body rewards you with a happier mental/emotional state.  Awesome!

I've been exceedingly frustrated with my food situation here at home this summer.  I'm finally getting through to my family that I want more fruits and vegetables.  I'm sick of ice cream, bread, Lay's potato chips, and junk food.  I want more fiber and protein in my diet, and I want to have the freedom to make my own choices.  I'm in love with Dannon Light N' Fit yogurts and then adding granola in them.  I can't remember if I've done a little segment on how good yogurt is for you, but it's supposed to help with the bacteria all throughout your digestive system for the most part-specifically in your mouth and stomach.  Also for females-it's supposed to support vaginal health too.  Kind of cool that you get all those benefits from one food, huh?  That's like a 3 for 1 deal!  Think $ALE, ladies!

To wrap up.  All of these things floating around in my head this summer have really just all hit me tonight.  I'm determined to get myself back on Weight Watchers.  It's $30 to sign up, and then you have an option for doing a 3-month plan or a monthly one.  I'm thinking of going with the 3 month plan, and having it be taken care of for the majority of this semester.  As soon as a pay my credit card down so I have money freed up, I'm putting myself on WW.  Yes I have textbooks to buy, and I'll get them eventually.  But I need to start seriously taking care of myself.  I need to lose this weight for my physical wellbeing, my mental wellbeing, and my emotional wellbeing.  I'm sick of stressing and crying over my weaknesses in all of these areas.  It's time to build Warrior Megan.  Someone who can run (eventually-okay, maybe light jogging?,) someone who can have the mental strength to make it through my semesters of school without a breakdown, and someone who is so sure of herself and confident in herself to know exactly what she wants in a relationship-and not settle for anything less.  (Well, maybe a few exceptions here and there-relationships require growth as a team-give and take.)  But, at least a basic, solid foundation of what I won't settle for.  You don't tailor yourself to fit the dress, you tailor that dress to fit you-and so forth.  LOL!

For now-I am determined to help save the world and my own life by making smarter choices.  I know that diet is only half the battle-the other half lies in physical labor/exercise.  But, one thing at a time.  When I get back to Burlington I'll be much more active, and I'll be enrolled in Zumba classes again.  I'm going to do my best to cut back severely on all processed foods, work on eating more natural foods, and find foods that make my body work well for me.  It's a lot to put together all at once, I agree.  But, unfortunately in my own mind-it's necessary.  I just need to continue channeling my muse, Eden, and her excitement about beets and other vegetables.  They do your body good.

Until next time.

Much love!

All The Small Things

No, there's no Blink-182 reference here.  :(

This morning I made good choices.  For breakfast: Dannon Light and Fit Yogurt w/ some added granola, 1 large apple, and 2 pieces of wheat toast w/ peanut butter.  This is the first healthy choice I've made in a few days, and of course much of this is dependant upon what is available in the house.  I asked for yogurts and granola, and it showed up last night!  (Meaning that my mom went grocery shopping.)  XD

Now, a brief aside about yogurt.  <-Click the link, there's an awesome article about all the health benefits-for women in particular.  Dannon's Light and Fit products are AMAZING.  They make smoothies which are to die for, and an awesome yogurt.  (http://www.lightnfit.com/).  Trust me when I say they have good yogurt.  I'm an extremely picky yogurt eater.  Many I have tried in the past have been too liquidy, others too thick and gloppy.  Others when I tried to just get regular vanilla tasted like the plastic container that they came in.  Not Light and Fit!  The perfect consistancy, with real fruit pieces in the yogurt.  It's like a wonderland of awesomeness.

Peanut butter also has hidden properties that shouldn't be forgotten.  Check out this article.  Not only is it full of protein to keep you fuller longer, but it tastes wonderful! <3333333

Hopefully by the time my 12:30 class gets out, I'll only be a little hungry instead of ravenous.

Letcha know how it goes!

Crrraaaavvvviiinnggggssss

Have you ever worked in a drug store?  Or in an establishment that sells things that are all too easy to buy?  Grocery stores?  Etc?

Working the front of a drug store is horrible for people who are easily swayed to candy-licious temptations (namely, me.)

My entire 3 years at Kinney's, and once a month I get to see all this candy go on sale.  Now, I'm not big on just ANY candy, mostly it's chocolate that gets me.  (Ashley knows what I'm talking about.)  Hahaha.  Actually, even Ryan does too, I think.  When Kinney's was selling King Size Reeses for $1.00 a piece, like, how can you NOT resist that?  Seriously?

Okay, so back to the sane part of this post.  Most of you know that this is very bad.  Chocolate should not hold such a strong temptation over anybody.  Unfortunately, my willpower is weak when it comes to that, and it sucks being able to have all the time in the world to check out what's on sale, or think about what I'd like to have on my break (when I have the $ that is.)

Being overweight and not wealthy, well, you see how this is a catch-22.  I'm trying to lose weight, but I have to go to work to make money.  And when I get money I think "Wow, I really need some chocolate on my break.  HOW AM I GOING TO MAKE IT THOUGH THE REST OF THE NIGHT???"  It's a vicious cycle.  I mean, I'm still "trying" to lose weight, but what does that really mean?

It means mostly I'm putting in half-assed attempts here and there once in a while to really try to turn my life around.  Unfortunately, when my routine gets bumped for some reason, it ends up shattering to a billion little tiny pieces.  Fail.  *Sigh*  It sucks when you finally be honest with yourself.  I want to thank those of you that have put in all the effort to motivate me and to keep me going, unfortunately I'm back to square one.  But I suppose it's not the number of times you get knocked back down that counts, it's how many times you get back up.  I'm going to keep doing the best I can for as long as I can.  I'm trying to get back into the 308 workout routine, but without Velvet there to help me along with everything, it just sucks.  I'm sick of being big, but I really do feel stuck.  It's like I won't allow myself to lose weight.  My body can put in the time and effort, but my mind still craves sugar-all the time.

I think I need someone about my size and skill level to work out with.  I mean, maybe there's something online I could check out to find someone in my area to do stuff with?  Kind of like eHarmony, except this being for finding a workout buddy.

I can't wait to get back to college.  At least there during my day-to-day activities I get some workouts in.  (Even if they are walking to Champ Farms at 3am for 3 Musketeers, Ashley's Ben & Jerry's, and a bag of Salt and Vinegar chips.)  I mean, you have to walk that hill.  (And that hill is a bitch when it wants to be, trust me.)

Well then, now that that's out.  I kind of want some hot tea, so I'm going to go do that.

To those of you feeling stuck out there...I hear ya.

Much love.

It's Coming Back

My motivation is coming back.

You know what else came back?  High school.  Eden Ryan and I got to spend time together again like we once did in high school.  It brought back so many memories, and I think we're finally, truly  all good again.  I missed having the three of us together like we were last night.  It was absolutley wonderful.

ALL HOPE HAS RETURNED!

Eden inspired me to get cracking on weight loss again.  (She doesn't know this, but that's okay.)  :)

So, before I lost my motivation again, I'm going to go start up my crunch/ab routine again.  Reverse crunches, I'm about to make you my *****.  <3
