I successfully survived my first week of my last semester of college!  Whoo hoo!  My classes are mostly so-so, so far.  Hopefully I'll develop more of an affection for them as we move further along in this semester.  Unfortunately senioritis has definitely set in starting from Day 1, so I'll have to stay strong for the remainder of this school year.

Ryan will be joining our party tomorrow when he comes to move back into UVM!  I miss that boy, so that will be fantastic.

All but one of my textbooks have gotten to me in time for class, so I'm waiting patiently for things to get in order.  I have also been selling my textbooks on half.com.  Can I get a HOO-RAH for extra cash?  :D

In other news, my fish are all still alive and doing fairly well.  My plan for when my guppies, Killer and Diana Ross die, is to go to Walmart and get a new set of 5 and create a new bond with new family members.  <3

I don't have much else to report except for that I'm poor and waiting for my refund to come in from the school.  Ryan is going to help feed me over the next few weeks until I have money to go grocery shopping again.  (I love that boy.)  :)  Well will make it through!

Textbook Craze (Updated 1/14/12)

It's about that time again.  When you have to frantically find the cheapest option for textbooks for the semester, while trying to make the most amount of money possible selling your old textbooks to other students who want them for cheap.  Whew!

My textbooks for my last semester of college are going to cost around $250.  Not fun.  :(  I'm also selling about 44 books (both textbooks and young adult fiction/paranormal romance) on half.com.  My username there is megan.goodell so if you want to look me up and see what I have for sale, please do!  I have pretty reasonable prices listed for the condition of the books I have for sale, so you should definitely check me out.  :)

Keep Rollin' With the Punches

So, just when I think I have a good shot at being done homework before break, my professors come out with things like, "Oh, don't forget you have a 10 page paper due for us the Monday you get back from break!" 

Lovely.  Thanks for ruining my break.  Except not.  Because nothing is going to ruin the awesomeness of FLORIDA and BEACHES and HARRY EFFING POTTER!!!!

Just thought I would share my excitement.  As for the paper...well...maybe I can work on it in my free time at the beach?

Bloggable Moments

This weekend has been CRAZY....and it isn't over yet!  Starting Friday night, I had a PA Appreciation Dinner from 6-8.  Meg (from Career Services!) came with me to support Chelsea and I for all of our hard work in evaluating resumes and such.  Awww. <3 (We love Meg.)  Anywho, I was only planning on going and staying until about 7 because I wanted to be with my 308 girls (and Ryan!) and kick off the weekend on a good note. 

Well, slight change of plans.  The dinner was one of those that was a paced 3-course meal plus dessert, with different speakers from our group standing up to appreciate us, an all-inclusive slideshow, and superlatives. Yes, we're just THAT cool....we got superlatives.  I was choosen for "Sweetest PA" which is really cute.  :)

After being able to escape at 8, I got back to the dorm.  Previously during the day, there had been some discussion about Velvet wanting to go to the hospital per her mom's orders, so Meg had offered us a ride if need be.  I never got a response as to whether or not the ride was actually needed, so after having received a post on FaceBook that she may want to forego the trip, I thanked Meg but told her the ride probably wouldn't be necessary.  Once back at the dorm, 308 hung out for a few hours, and by 10pm guess what happened?  Yup, Velvet decided she wanted to go to the hospital.  SO, we walked up to Fletcher Allen Hospital at 10:30 pm, and had a grand old time.  Velvet was able to go back as soon as we got in the door essentially, and so Ashley, Ryan and I moved on into the waiting room until Velvet got out.  In the meantime, a "felon" was walked into the hospital and admitted to the Triage.  (We don't actually know what he did wrong, but this was the name Ryan dubbed him with.)  Felon was in cuffs accompanied by a Po-po man, and once admitted to the Triage, we were able to see what happened (unfortunately.)  Fortuantely for me though, I went to the bathroom as this next part unfolded.  Mr. Felon man got an IV stuck in him (which was able to be viewed by everybody in the waiting room because the Triage has windows....wtf.)  So Ryan and Ashley watched this drama unfold.

In between watching Ashley and Ryan hold an EPIC game of UNO in Ryan's lap, another poor soul found its way to Fletcher Allen.  This guy was coughing up lung-fulls of phlegm/blood.  Unforunatley, because it was "after hours", only one of the Triage rooms was open...the one Mr. Felon man was occupying.  So basically while this guy was dying in the waiting room, Mr. Felon man was taking his time.  And to top it all off, when he got out of the Triage room to let the other guy in, Mr. Felon man was smiling and thinking this was all a grand old time.  Yeah....awesome.

FINALLY Velvet gets about about 1.5 hrs after we originally got there, and after basically only telling her what she already knew (except for clarifiying that it isn't a sprain, simply really inflamed for whatever reason,) we were able to go back for the evening.

Yesterday we spent time on homework/papers/final project-papers.  Not fun.  My 8 pager due Tuesday isn't even started yet because I'm still sifting through all my sources for information.  *Sigh*  After spending until about 3:30-4 on this, I was finished with a UVM book so I went with Ryan to go return it and to go grab supper.  Afterwards, we decided to go on a walk.  We discovered where the Intervale is located, and found some pretty epic hills that we didn't know existed.  All in all, it was a good time!

Today I'm planning on finishing up sifting through all my sources, and then getting a few good pages done by 5 pm at the latest tonight.  I REALLY want to get this paper on the roll, but it's hard because its for a professor who prides himself on being a hardass (his words, not mine.)  SO, this paper may or may not be the end of me.  I guess either way it works out.  For the rest of this semester, I have a study guide to complete for Fred, a project to complete for Fred, a 12 page paper for my Constituation Project, 2 oral presentations, a Written Process Recording to complete for Seminar, work on a Final Evaltuation for Seminar/my internship, 3 Music Makers concerts, Housing Selection Night, and a final Champlain Loses It Finale Party.  So, if the Ethnographic paper kills me, guess I won't have to worry about the rest of that! :)  Hahaha That's morbid... 

Ok blogosphere, just wanted to let you know I was still alive.  I'll post a picture and sign off for another week or two depending on how well I can survive the next 3 weeks.  Much love to you all!!!

I'm Drowwwwning....

....in homework.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.  There is SO MUCH to get done this weekend! 

Mostly I'm stressing about this one project that is going to be due for one of my SWK classes.  It was supposed to be due on Friday, but we were able to get an extention until Wednesday.  Even with this extention, I'm not sure how this project is going to turn out. 

I still cannot wait until my birthday!  Only 7 days left of my teenage years.  Argh.  Oh well, I'll always be a teenager at heart, I know it. :)

Ok, now that I've vented a bit, I'm going to get going and actually work on this project.

Lazy Saturday Afternoon

Flash Update:  308 had it's first legit slumber party last night.  Mattresses came off the bed, and went out into the living room onto the floor.  Best. Night. Ever.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

There are no pictures, but trust me, it was a blast.  We were pretty much asleep by 12:30 am, and didn't wake up until 11ish.  Oh how I love my bed....even if it is on the floor in the living room.  So, I guess technically speaking, I should say that I love my mattress???

Anyway, thought I would give an update of my life!  I have a HUGE pile of homework to get through...like, the size of Mt. Everest.  It's NOT going to be fun.  But Ryan and I are thinking about eating supper with Ashley, and then taking a nap. THEN we'll get bac up to do homework and finish our day.  Velvet has to go to work at 6 until 10, and then she can come back and join our homework party. 

Whooo hooo!!!

OH! AND MORE BIG NEWS!!!!

This time next week.....Ryan and I will be getting pampered up to go to the Rainforest Cafe in Burlington, MA for my BIRTHDAY DINNER!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Why Do I Have Nothing To Do?

Ok, so my assignment book EVERY WEEK looks something like this:

Someone tell me that isn't crazy.  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.  I'm so ready for a break.  This three-day weekend was good while it lasted, but I want more.  My birthday is coming up!!!! March is going to be amaaaayyyyzzzzziiiinnnnggggggg!!!! 

My family is THE BEST...ever!  Ryan and I are taking a little road trip to Glenn's Falls to party up in the Great Escape Lodge.  There's a water park in there....it's awesome. 

And this is only until lunch. 

After lunch, we're driving to Burlington, MA to check into our hotel.  SO EXCITED!  There's going to be swimming, extra in-the-room activities, and chocolate-covered strawberries.  Ok, so after lunch, there will be (more) swimming.  When suppertime arrives, we're going to the RAINFOREST CAFE for supper.  OMG LAVA VOLCANO CAKE!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

After this FANTASTIC adventure, it's back to the hotel to chill for an hour or two to start on digestion of that amazing meal, [insert Ryan preparing the room in a special way for my b-day here,] and back to the pool/fitness center to work off some of the food. 

After this, it's baby oil massage time.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  Oh, IT'S ZEN TIME, WHAT?!  Yeah, basically.  We're making a fort in the room, there's going to just be b-day stuff ALL over the place, and a very happy Megan. 

After staying up all night (or more than likely passing out from exhaustion from all the swimming at about 10:30 pm,) Day 2 arrives.  Spending the morning in the pool (big surprise,) BREAKFAST, and then going to see a movie of my choice.  Hmmmmm...yeah, I'm toes pumped for this. 

3 more weeks until this glorious phenomenon occurs.

Wow

So,
I had my Winter Music Makers Concert last night.  It was awesome.  The wearing of Tap Shoes, busing through phlegm to spit out a duet/solo, seeing my mom & gram & Ryan's parents.....it was all so epic. :)

I haven't showered today.  Not because I didn't want to...but because it's stormy outside.  I keep hoping that by some miracle class will be cancelled and I won't have to go and take this quiz.  Every other school in the Northeast basically has today off as a snow day.  But nope, not Champlain.  Because all/most of the professors live so close, they are always able to get here, and so we always have class.

NOOOOOOOOO.  Why? :'(

Granted after today I only have 2 more days of class (Friday and Monday [I have no classes on Thursday]), but still.  Can't I just be done with this?  PLEASE???  Do I really have to do 20 pages of work before Monday....6-12 of them due by Friday, 8 of them due by Monday?

Your Internship Awaits, M'Dear

GUESS WHAT?!?!?!!?!??!?!!?!?!?

Enough with the gloom and doom!  I, Megan, have successfully secured myself an internship for the Spring 2010 semester!!!! YAAAAAAYYYY!!!! And it's on campus!!!! BIGGER YAYYYYY!!!!! 

I am so excited to do this.  :)  I don't remember if I have explained it in my previous blog, and for fear of sounding repetitious I will refrain from going over it...(again?)  Eh, I'll double check.  If I have not described it well I will do so in the future.

I am so relieved to just relax, chill out, and go with the flow from here on out.  Gleastwick night was fantastic last night--big turning-point episodes!!! 

Right now I'm just foucsing on finishing up 2 group projects, both due this coming Tuesday.  Yeah, not fun.  So much to sift through! ARGH!!!

Regardless, thanks to all of you who wished me luck.  It worked.  :)

Everyone stay strong.  Don't get sick (like I did.)  Drink lots of tea, decaf coffee, or whatever your preference of a hot beverage.  It helps with digestion and keeping sickness at bay! :)  Sore throats and stuffy noses suck!

Death

Wow.  That's all I really have to say.  Within the span of 3 days, 1/3 of my famliy members have died.  (Granted that's only 2...but I don't have very many family members that I am/have been close to in my life.)  I consider the family members I do have left to be very precious, and should be "handled with care." 

I recently re-connected with Uncle Mike.  He's been basicly everywhere in the world.  Guess thats a benefit of being with the military.  I would LOVE to get the chance to travel the world, but considering all the factors and limitations in my environment and surrounding community, I doubt very much if that will ever happen.  Especially with the line of work I am going into.  Social Workers are lucky if they make 30k/yr.  Yeah, not going to be fun.  Why couldn't I have been better acquainted with numbers?  Then I could be an Accounting major and get a STARTING rate of like 60-80k/yr.

Ughh.  FML--over and over again.

Right now, I'm just looking forward to spending the weekend with my boyfriend.  I just need to clear my head, screw it back on straight, and buckle back down.  I feel like a cat that is trying desperately to cling to a curtain with her claws, while the owner is trying to free her nails of the curtain.  I don't WANT to be moved from the curtain.  I LIKE THE CURTAIN!!!!!!! STOP IT!!

I was talking with my mother on Yahoo Messenger and I asked her to please not die, at least for a little while.  Because this spurt is really rather depressing, and I have too much to deal with already just trying to make it through school.  I don't need to be worrying about whether or not my family is making it through day-to-day life at home as well.  Grr.

I believe things happen for a reason though.  Perhaps I'll be able to get closer to "that" side of the family again.  (If they all don't decide to hold grudges...)  We shall see.

Right now I should be writing/finding examples for a paper I have to write that's due Monday...buuuuuuut I feel blogging is more important for right now.  My head hurts, I just want to go back to sleep (actually, to the gym would be nice too.)
But nope, can't do that.  I have class at 11-12:15, working 1:30-4:30, PA Meeting from 4:45-6:15, get my Music Makers folder back from Ryan, Music Makers from 7-9, and then--THEN maybe I can take care of myself.

Is it Friday yet?  This is my last stressful night for a while I hope.  Tomorrow night is Glee/Eastwick (and they're soon to cancel Eastwick.....FML--again and again), Thursday night is Kickboxing (which I will desperately need), and Friday night is Kickboxing/catch the bus to Luke's.    I need a weekend of pampering.  Perhaps a day at the spa?  Psh, yeah right.  Not with my budget.  Not hardly.  But thats where boyfriends come in??? ;) Haha.

Well, the best I can do is hang in there.  I hope both my gramps are doing ok.  One lost a sister and the other lost his spouse.  Not a good time on any side of the fam.  Hang in there everyone, things'll get easier soon, I hope!

Anton van Leeuwenhoek

...is dead. He died a long time ago, in fact. And my partner Amber and I have to try to come up with a solid reason of why he was important, and why anyone should give a damn.
Actually, he was kind of a cool guy. He was the first to look through a microscope and discover bacteria and germs and all that fun stuff. (He also discovered sperm...but thats another story.) This could potentially be a really epic presentation. We're going to try to make a powerpoint with pictures and a "shit-ton" (thank you, Velvet for your NY vocabulary!!) of music. Hopefully it won't come out looking like crap. Oh yeah, and did I forget to mention there's a 5 pg paper that accompanies all of this? Yeah, NOT FUN.

Anywho, I am sitting in the library waiting the last 15 mins for my partner to show up so we can get to work. It's going to be a fantastic time. I just hope we can get it done and have it look really excellent by the end of today. We shall see, as always. :)



Anywho, I'm going to go to try to get some FaceBook time in inbetween doing this project and spending the rest of my life doing homework.

Good Morning, Sunshines!

Ughhhh.  Soooo incredibly tired.  Today is my official homework day, and seeing as how Ashley and Velvet both have to work up at the library from 12-5 today, I'm going up with them to go get some help on something.  :)

It's going to be a great time.  Ryan would be going with us except he's off gallavanting through Burlington with a friend from home to go have lunch at Applebees (again?)  So, he'll probably join us later.

Right now it is 46 degrees outside and I don't want to get dressed.  But pj's will not suffice in this temperature...Awesome.

Ok my lovelies, I'm off to go get some homework done.
