So..1 Year Out!

Hey guys!  I haven't written a post on here in a little over a year.  A TON has happened since I last updated everyone about my life, so here are the highlights:

-Once I returned home from Cape Cod, I had a month and a half of FULL TIME job searching.  It sucked.  I was stressed, depressed, and all around just not feeling great about myself.
-Eventually, I was hired by a local social service agency dedicated to helping seniors in the community.  I work as a Case Manager which is PERFECT, because that's exactly what I went to school for.  :)  It feels great being able to put my degree to work for me and get a little ROI (return on investment).
-Oct. 15, 2012 is when I started this incredible new job.  I'm almost coming up on my 1 yr anniversary here, so life has been wonderful.  I've learned a ton and absolutely love the work I'm doing.  Perfect fit!
-Ryan and I are no longer a couple.  But it's okay, I promise!  We're still extremely close and went back to being besties.
-In Feb. I had to get a new car.  Space needed new roters, brakes, brake pads, etc., etc., and it just wasn't worth it to keep throwing money into a '99 vehicle.  I ended up getting myself a silver 2010 Dodge Journey which is a large SUV.  The only 2 drawbacks are that (1) it is an automatic (I prefer 5 speeds), and (2) it is only FWD.  Since my job requires me to do home visits to many (most) of my clients, I am often traveling up back roads and up mountains, even in the middle of winter.  I wish I had advocated more for getting a 4WD vehicle.  Oh well, next time.  I am proud to say that I was able to get the loan for my vehicle all on my own (didn't need a co-signer!) so now I am truly able to say 'my' car and mean it! :)
-I've been to Washington, D.C. with Ryan last year for my birthday (my first time there)!  We stayed in a hostel for 7 days which ended up not having running water for 3 of those days, so we ended up having to get a hotel room about 2.5-3 days into that madness.  I think we almost reached our breaking point in seeing how long we could go without showering.  It was bad.  BUT we were able to see all of the main highlights and tourist attractions, so it felt great to cross all of the main monuments and museums off my bucket list.
-I've been paying HARDCORE on my student loans.  I crunched the numbers last night and by the end of this year if all goes well [I'll explain in my next bullet point], I'll have resolved $11,430 in my student loan debt.
-"If all goes well...."  Okay, here we go.  I have 3 different lenders for my student loans.  My federal ones through the US Dept of Education, some through VSAC, and one through this other loan mgmt company on behalf of my college called MyCampusLoan.  They are managing my Perkin's loan (instead of Champlain having to hire staff to work directly on managing every student's account).  Here's the deal.  There are certain circumstances in which you may be able to get your Perkin's loan forgiven.  You also have to have worked at your job for a minimum of 1 year.  I applied for deferment a couple months ago (because I only just found out that this might even be a possibility for me), and was approved--so right my now loan with them is not accruing interest.  YAY!  Before applying for deferment, my Perkin's loan was my first smaller loan I was really going after.  I wanted to get that totally paid off so I could snowball my payments and put the rest of the money that was going to my Perkin's payment toward VSAC or my federal loans.  But, since my Perkin's is in deferment and is not accruing interest, I'm working hard on my VSAC loans since they are still accruing interest.  Anyway, once I meet my 1 year anniversary at this fantastic job, I can send in a Request for Cancellation form.  I don't know if I will be approved, but I really hope so.  My other hope is that they will refund me the $1800 or so I've already invested in that loan.  Because I can put that towards another one of my loans.  So, if all of this goes my way, I'll be $11,430 out of student loan debt by the end of Dec. 2013.  GET IT.
-Ryan moved to E. Boston to continue his studies and get his Master's in Community Theater at Emerson College, so that's exciting!  I can't wait until I can go down to visit and spend a few nights with him.  I don't know Boston that well, but I imagine I'll be learning over the course of the next few years.
-Lastly, I'm trying once again to lose weight.  Now that I have health insurance through my employer (although I'm not sure how that's going to change once the Health Care Exchange takes over Jan 1), I have successfully lost about 30 lbs since mid January of 2013.  I went to Physical Therapy to have them train me in how to push myself, how to do which exercises with my body, and how to execute proper form with many of the different exercises they gave me to work on.  Besides exercising and trying to be more active in general, I have almost completely done a 180 on my diet.  I'm trying to stay away from processed food as much as possible, and focus more on fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, protein, etc.  There are still the days when I need to stop at McD's for a breakfast or lunch, because my job often has lots of time constraints, but I'm not making that the foundation of my diet any longer.  I can't wait to continue with this journey now that I have support from my PCP (primary care physician), and other local community agencies to help me reach my goals.  :)

Annd...that's really about it.  I'm sure I'm forgetting a few different highlights, but that's most of what has happened to me since August of 2012.

I hope I didn't bore you with all the minute details of my life for the past 13 months.  There's lots of exciting stuff going on, and I love being able to share all this with you.  :)

What are some of the main highlights of your life in the past year.  In what ways have you grown?  What can you do this year that you couldn't last year?

Happy September, everyone!  Here comes the next holiday season!!

First Week Back

Ashley showing school spirit by wearing copies of the latest edition of our school newspaper, The Current.

Left hand blue?

This picture is stunning of all three of us!  (Me, Ashley, Cassie).

Kitchen party!

Ashley and I looking adorable.

I successfully survived my first week of my last semester of college!  Whoo hoo!  My classes are mostly so-so, so far.  Hopefully I'll develop more of an affection for them as we move further along in this semester.  Unfortunately senioritis has definitely set in starting from Day 1, so I'll have to stay strong for the remainder of this school year.

Ryan will be joining our party tomorrow when he comes to move back into UVM!  I miss that boy, so that will be fantastic.

All but one of my textbooks have gotten to me in time for class, so I'm waiting patiently for things to get in order.  I have also been selling my textbooks on half.com.  Can I get a HOO-RAH for extra cash?  :D

In other news, my fish are all still alive and doing fairly well.  My plan for when my guppies, Killer and Diana Ross die, is to go to Walmart and get a new set of 5 and create a new bond with new family members.  <3

I don't have much else to report except for that I'm poor and waiting for my refund to come in from the school.  Ryan is going to help feed me over the next few weeks until I have money to go grocery shopping again.  (I love that boy.)  :)  Well will make it through!

What has your first week back to school looked like?

Been A While/New Phone!

Sorry about the seemingly unrelated topics in the same post.  It has been a very long time since I made my last post, so I'm trying to make like a good blogger and actually blog.  :P

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=5355&deviceCategoryId=2  This is the link to the new phone I am about to get.  It has landed in Williston, VT, and I am currently waiting for it to get dropped off at the Champlain College mail room so I can pick it up and be on my merry way.  I'm SO EXCITED to have a new phone again.  Verizon is wonderful about allowing me to upgrade/update my 2 yr contract just about every year, and they allow me to upgrade my phone for free.  Which is awesome.  Ordering this phone online was also completely free (shipping and handling included!) so I'm pretty excited about this.

For those of you who are wondering how Ryan and I have been doing...we're fantastic.  :)  Love is in the air, summer is just around the corner (you know, around the VT tornado and flooding,) and life is pretty good.

I'm trying to head home today amidst all the flooding/closed roads/erosion/sinkholes, so I'm taking a half day at work.  Also, I'm trying to beat the next bout of storm which should be rolling in this afternoon between 3-5.  So, wish me luck!

When I'm home safe I'll try to think of a well-thought-out, themed post.  Right now I'm still a little frantic about money woes and how I'm going to get home.  (At least if I'm not able to go home, I'll have gone for a nice ride and I'll be able to stay with Ryan for a few more days!)

Things will work out somehow.

Until next time!

xoxo

Happier Than I Ever Thought I'd Ever Be

The day before last, I took the biggest risk of my entire life.  I laid everything down on the line, threw all my cards on the table, and put myself way, way out there.  Literally my entire life, my entire future was at stake, and I sat down to play poker with fate.  (Actually I can't play poker, so looking back on it, that might not have been my smartest move ever.)

HOWEVER, everything worked out sooo beautifully in the end.  For those of you who have been living under a rock  for the past 2 days, Ryan and I are now officially an item.  Oh, yes.  Burlington's new power couple.  After years of dealing with this in silence, I decided I'd had enough.  Now or never.  Time to reveal all.  And the result was something so much more magical than I could have ever expected.

Tuesday I was a wreck.  I gave Ryan the 6 page letter which housed my heart, future, and potentially emotional and mental stability for the next three years at least in the morning before school, and proceeded to act like a crazy person the rest of the day.  I'm pretty sure my body thought that I drank 4 cups of straight espresso every 3 hours or something.  Heart palpitations were in abundance.  I walked down Church St and fit right in with everyone else due to my talking to myself and the random hand gestures that were sure to have accompanied the conversations I had with myself.  Oh yeah, SO sane.

In order to give my body a rest I texted Ryan (as if nothing unusual had happened that day) and told him I'd probably be taking a nap right when I got home from work.  The nap worked out well, although I had some crazy dreams (not all that unusual for me) which I proceeded to text and inform Ryan of.  I got up a half hour before my staff meeting, and decided that I GUESSED I was brave enough to get online and check Facebook and stuff before staff meeting.  Waiting for me in my inbox was an e-mail from Ryan, subject "<3".

Okay, so now take my Church St persona and multiply that by 3.  It was safe to say I was FREAKIN' OUT!  I proceeded to read the sweetest, most vivid and emotional e-mail of my life.  I cried.  It's now saved forever in the catacombs of my e-mail folders.  Needless to say, Ryan said yes, and I found myself saved from total and utter destruction.

I can't even put into words how happy I am.  It feels so refreshing to get everything off my chest that I've been holding for 2-3 years now, and to be able to finally recognize my feelings and drag them from the dark into the light.  Ryan always has been and always will be my everything.  I don't know how I lived before him, and I can't imagine my future without him.  I love that I can reach out and touch him now whenever the urge strikes me, and I don't have to just pretend I'm just "WTFing" him or something else of the sort.

I have a boyfriend again!  But Ryan not just my boyfried, he's my best friend.  I am in the most perfect relationship I think I could have ever asked for, and my life finally feels complete.  Thank you to those who helped me through this rough weekend, and who kept me from shattering into a million pieces.  This is the understatement of the year, but WHOA, what a week!

(This is obviously us.  Can't you tell?  LMFAO!)

Happy 100th Post to Me!

Hello, my lovelies!  This is my 2nd blog post in the span of 24 hours.  I'm totally on top of this!  :)

This is my 100th blog post here on blogger.com, and I just want to think for a moment on what a journey I've been on throughout these 100 posts.  Whoa.  That's intense.

Nostalgia aside, I want to inform you all of an AWESOME thing happening in our country right now.  As I was reading my monthly issue of Glamour, this feel-good idea was brought up yet again, after having previously seen it in a former issue.  OperationBeautiful is this wonderful thing where women are inspiring other women to realize their natural beauty.  So, how do you do this?  Random acts of post-its.  What you do is write down an inspirational message on a post-it, and stick it to a mirror in a bathroom stall, on the mirror, or somewhere on a subway, bus, or train for other women to find.  Messages usually go something like "Smile.  You're gorgeous.  Operationbeautiful.com."  It's such a sweet thing to do, and doesn't really take much time out of your day.  Everyone needs a pick-me-up at some point in their lives, and seeing a post-it telling a woman she is worthy can sometimes be all it takes to turn her day around.  Make each other smile, spread the love.  Tell all the women in your life they are beautiful and deserve the world.  Because seriously, we do.  ;)

In other good news-3 days into Weight Watchers I've lost 5 lbs!!!!  Now-to all of you out there who may not know, the weight that is coming off me right now is likely just bloat, and water weight.  This is the easy part.  All the weight I'm losing hereafter is going to come off much harder.  That doesn't mean that I can't still revel in my awesomeness and be proud of myself for an evening.  Guess what else I even did today?  26 minutes on a stationary bike!  Okay, so earlier I posted about how I was going to read and exercise all day at the same time?  That didn't work out.  Reading took too much concentration, and it's very hard to concentrate when you're breathing heavy and sweating.  I didn't even make it a full half hour because I mis-timed myself (I was using Crest Whitestrips left over from the box I bought about a year ago,) and so I had to stop and take the strips off before a full 1/2 hr on the bike.  That's okay with me though-my toes were numb.  Haha!  I just want to point out that although this sounds ridiculous (26 minutes on a stationary bike-that's it-really?), it's more exercise than I've been getting all summer.  I felt awesome from all the endorphins afterward, and it was a good place for me to start.  I regret to inform you that I did not make it to the treadmill, and after those 26 minutes I spent the rest of the day reading in bed, however I feel doubly accomplished because I finished the book I was expecting was going to take me another 2 days to read.

This is especially awesome because I've still got 12 books I'd like to read before going back to college.  (That's over a book a day for those of you that don't remember that Aug. 29th is my move-in day for Champlain.)  10 days left as of tomorrow.  Yeah, whoa is what I said too.  Tomorrow is my last full day of work at Kinney's (I still have a few more days of the 5 hr closing shifts to work,) so this really feels as though summer is FINALLY wrapping up.  I miss Ashley so much, but I'm also very well aware that once I'm in B-town I'll be missing Mitchell incredible amounts also.  I just can't ever win.  Haha!  Ah, well, such is life.  All the suckyness I have to endure now I hope will pay off in my future.

I won't keep you all much longer.  This is my second book-ish post I've created today, and I know everyone has better things to do than to read about my life all evening.

Thank you for tuning in, as always.

Ryan is a Bad Support System, But I Love Him Anyway

Hey all!  So this post is dedicated to Ryan!  2 Days ago I started WW, and it's been rough re-programming my mind to what I actually need to eat versus what I want to eat.  Points are consumed pretty quickly, man!

Anywho, yesterday Ryan and I went to go see my mom in her new managerial position at White's.  She's got a huge kick-ass office (well, "huge" being a relative term-in our part of the world, the one she has is pretty big.)  While we were looking through White's for AZ Iced Tea and even earlier at Price Chopper, comments such as, "Ohhhh!  We should come here to get candy for the movies instead!" kept spewing from his mouth.  Now, the problem isn't all in Ryan's obsession with all food (haha!), part of it is still in my brain and it's obsession with sugar.  My instant reaction is "YEAH, MAN! Let's do it!"  As you can obviously make out, this is bad for losing weight.
So, bottom line: Ryan needs to stop pointing out chocolate on sale to me, and I need to stop being in the mindset that I need sugar.  I love it so much, but I will overdo it if given the chance.  My willpower sucks.

On a lighter note, I've decided to invest in a tape measurer today.  I watched a Youtube video of this woman measuring her arms, thighs, belly, waist, etc-and showing how many inches she's lost off her body after a good chunk of time on WW.  That's SO awesome.  I feel that this will help me to visualize and hold myself even more accountable to all the weight I'm planning on losing.  She was so uplifiting!  The video can be watched here.

Onto other news, Champlain is just 12 DAYS AWAY!!!!!!  I'm so excited!!!! <33333333

Also-I've yet again worked my magic with a blank piece of paper.  Mitchell now has a kick-ass resume that is going to get him any job he'll ever want, and I've decided that perhaps I should take on the name:
The Resume Whisperer.

Very fitting, don't you think?

Alas, time has come for me to leave you and go to work.

I love you all.  Stay strong in your pursuits!

Who Needs a Penis Partner, Anyway?

It took me a long time to come up with a title for this blog.  There were so many messages i wanted to convey all at once, as well as a few key emotions.  This post is dedicated to all you men out there.  Those of you who like to play women like stringed instruments, those of who who "would love to hook up," and also to those of you who actually respect women, want to treat them right, and are looking for one of your very own.  Although I'm actively on the prowl for one of the latter, I keep finding myself coming across the first two.

I find myself writing this blog with Frankee's F.U.R.B. playing in the background.  How fitting!  (I haven't had a relationship experience like the one explained in the song, but, it's very satisfying to sing along to at the moment.)

It has been four months since my breakup with my last boyfriend.  He treated me extremely well, but he hasn't yet figured out a way to treat himself well.  I've found that I can't be with someone who doesn't respect himself.

As for my most recent endeavours, I've opened a personal ad on Sevendays.com so that I can try to find someone in Burlington that might be looking for a relationship.  (Check me out at: http://sevendays.selectalternatives.com/gyrobase/Personals/Profile?person=oid%3A783834 ).  *Note-I'm not a paying memeber so if I like you, I can't send you a message. :(*

So far, I've had two guys e-mail me on the site only looking for hookups.  One graduated this past weekend and was looking for a weekend affair, the other was 36 years old.  Ick! Creeper!

The third person I've tried to attempt to make a connection with is someone I had a few classes with this past semester.  Long story short: guys you meet in person and spend some time with who seem like nice, genuine, caring people are ALSO a$$holes.  I asked him to lunch/dinner, and he asked for the way into my pants.  What hope is there if even the people you spend time with in person turn out to be dicks, too?

Right....so, apparently guys love me...as a hookup.  (Which is suprising conisdering I'm a few pounds worse for the wear, but I do try to take care of myself.)  I'm flattered and everything, but I need someone with a bit more class.  Oh yeah, and as an afterthought...don't tell a potential hookup you have a girlfriend after you've asked to hook up with her, and/or while still trying to hook up with her.

*Sigh*  So, obviously I haven't had much luck with this whole dating thing.  I've never been much good at it to begin with, but the past two weeks have just been EPIC fail.  RAWR!

It's easy to see now why so many people give up on love.  It's so hard to earn, and yet so easy to lose.  I find that I'm really enjoying trying to meet new people, but trying to wade through the endless supply of $hitty guys is bringing me down just a little.  Can't I have just one successful date?  Is this really what the world has come to?  No, I refuse to believe it.  There's got to be someone out there who's meant to be with me.  Hopefully he'll find me before I'm 63 and needing a hip replacement...

As a more realistic goal, I would like to find myself having gone on at least one successful date by the time I'm 21.  You see, in the past, the way all my relationships have developed has been by me creating a close realtionship with a guy, and then it just naturally developing into an exclusive relationship.  Now I want to try dating by going in the other end of the spectrum; dating around until I find someone I like and who likes me back, and THEN moving into a mutually exclusive relationship.  I want that experience so bad I can almost taste it.  But, as usual, I will continue to remain patient-not that I have much chocie.  Things will work out in the end--they have to.

To all you Players: grow up.  Really?  Like, really?!  Good luck feeling good about yourself.  The human conscience is a glorious and powerful thing.  You'll get yours someday when you find out the one girl you wanted played you better than a 50 year old fiddler!

To all you lovely, "I'd Love to Hook Up" guys, f**k off.  Thanks, but no thanks.  My heights are set a little higher than that.

And to all of you Good Guys out there-please don't give up on dating because of the catty, superfluous women out there.  If you normally go for skinny blondes, try the pretty plus-size redhead sitting by herself.  She's probably got more to offer in brains AND in body.  (But of course, you're the Good Guys, so you should know this already.)

To everyone out there Searching For Love either actively or passivley, don't give up.  There's someone out there for everyone.  I feel it.  If you're a guy looking for a girl like me, keep looking.  I'm searching for you, too.

I'm finished venting for the day.  Guys are fabulous, but for right now, who needs a penis partner, anyway?

Love Always,
Megan

I Love Being 9 Years Old

This weekend I went home with Ryan for a mini-slumber party at my house.  Already, you can tell this is going to be an excellent weekend.

My grandmother calls me Friday morning wanting to know if I want to get picked up that night.  I decline, but tell her that both Ryan and I would be willing to come home Saturday morning to spend a night at my house.

After a sort-of-restful night at Jeanne Mance, Ryan and I wake up looking for breakfast.  Brennan's is closed, Cooks just...ugh, and everything else just kind of failed.  Oh well, it worked out (kind of) because we got to go to Friendly's!  (Note about that: waitress fail, breakfast..eh..so-so.)

After getting back to my house, Ryan books it for my shower.  Apparently it has some appeal.  Awesome!  I find nail clippers to take care of my nails that were bothering me all Friday night, and THEN we're all good to go.

Alice in Wonderland was playing at the Star Theatre, so we went to see that.  TIM BURTON + JOHNNY DEPP DO IT AGAIN!!!!  It was amazing!  After this, we run back to my house for a quick pb + pickle sandwich lunch, and run back out the door with a frisbee and camera to go play.  I decided that we should go to the East Burke Playground, and then Ryan and I got to act like we were 9 yr olds (promptly showing the ACTUAL 9 yr olds already there how its done.)

Note to the world: Megan's frisbee aim SUCKS.  Hahahaha.  If your life depends on my frisbee aim...FYI, you're DOOMED!!!!

After two hours of epic awesomeness (and a 10 minute hike,) we decide that its time to go see Eleemosynary at LI.  That, too was EPIC.  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.  Everything was just so good.  :D

At around 8:30-9pm, we leave LI and decide that we're starving.  I already know there is going to be nothing spectacular to eat at home, so a ROADTRIP TO PRICE CHOPPER happens!  Originally we were looking to just buy a pre-cooked chicken and dissect that, but epicFAILPriceChopper.  So, to improvise, we buy Pizza Bread (amazing!), ABC shaped tater-tots, and Pillsbury SuperDuper Chocolate Chip cookies (or something of the sort.)  This constitutes another win for team Meg Ryan.  (See, when we live together, we're not going to starve!  Between the two of us we can manage to operate a microwave, an oven, and pour milk.)  :)  On the way out, Ryan and I decide to invest in 2 Redbox movies for the night.  Precious was in!!!!!!!!!!!  Also, we found that Couple's Retreat was in, and it looked halarious--so we thought we'd give that one a shot.  Both were pretty good.  Precious made us cry, and Couple's Retreat was just a great get-away-from-reality kind of movie.

After having exhausted ourselves for the day, we get ready for bed.  We get into bed at 2am, but don't go to bed until 4-4:30.  How does this happen?  Talking.  About what?  Past, present, future, babies, being single, being taken, jobs, UVMFail, ChamplainFail, UVMWIN, ChamplainWIN, friends (both old and new,) and about how we are just basically going to live together for the rest of our lives after college is all over with.  Neither one of us is planning on  getting a boyfriend or girlfriend because that means one of us is probably going to get jealous, and THEN we'll have an issue. (That'll screw up the whole 'both of us living together forever' situation.)  LOL!

My family members are all working on getting life insurance, so in case one of them dies (KNOCK ON WOOD!) the house will be paid for.  In my grandfather's words "...because we don't know anybody that's interested in living here." (That's sarcastic...and "anybody" means me.)  I do want to live in that house after college if my job allows me to, so we'll see how this all works out!

Anywho, that was about the extent of my Saturday adventures!

Hope you all had a safe weekend!

Much love!
-Megan

RYAN COMES BACK TODAY!!!!!!!!!

Hi, everyone!

Yesterday was Saturday night.  Guess what I did?  NO! NOT that, you pervs!  Actually, I stayed in with some of my best friends in the world--Velvet and Ashley, and did all of my homework.  Anyone care to know my reasoning for doing something so DISPICABLE on a SATURDAY night? (Hint: The title of this post may provide a clue.)

That's right! RYAN COMES BACK TODAY!  My other half!  My bestie!  My mirror!  :)  Actually, I only have like 2 more pages of a study guide to complete for homework which I'm going to finish right after this post, but I have a few hours since Ryan is supposed to be leaving L-ville between 11-12 this afternoon.  3 hours or less and I will be reunited with some of my CLOSEST of family (other than my Mom and Grandparents of course.)

Just wanted to share my excitement!

As for the rest of my life, I have been extremely exhausted this past week due to all the drama after my 9-5 workdays.  BUT, I'm getting there.  I'm actually really enjoying this 1 month break.  I am still giving myself the entire month to make sure that this is how I'm truly feeling, but deep down I think I am making the right decision.  When you get to a point in a relationship where you are trying to make up excuses to not talk to your partner in the evenings, you know something is wrong.  (Specifically in regards to spring break--I actually watched 5 seasons of LOST.  This wasn't just "making up excuses", but it helped give me some space!)  Anyway, regardless, I believe I am making the right decision.  Everyone I have talked to in Burly World has supported my decision and are telling me that I seem happier, bounicer, and less burdened even just since Wednesday.  That's a sign that this is good for me, and that it is time to move on.  I feel good.  I feel bad that I'm hurting Luke, but that's about the extent of it.  I love him...I'm just not in love with him.  That's where the line is between friend and intimate relationship.  I'm SO glad I've figured things out for myself.  So here's to a BIG SHOUTOUT to (mostly Ashley and Velvet) who have had to put up with my day-to-day questioning of myself.  And another BIG SHOUTOUT to everybody else that has been involved in the process: to Ryan for providing tons of support whenever I needed him this week, to my mom and grandparents for seeing where things were going a few years earlier in the process than I did, more props to my mom for being AWESOME and having figured all this out for herself once before in her life, and to Meg--my super amazing ex-boss who is one of my main go-to adults on campus!!!!!!

Whew!  Now that all of that is out, I am going to go finish my last 2 pages of homework!  I love everybody, and I can't wait to SEE RYAN THIS AFTERNOON!!!!!

(Will let you know how it all goes soon.)

In Honor or Janet Bird

A spunky lady I once knew ruled her roost in Danville.  NOBODY could tell her otherwise, regardless of what it was.  If you would say left, she, of course, would go right.  This woman had a mind of her own, and enriched the lives of many around her.

Many of you probably remember me as a shy little girl who wouldn't speak unless spoken to.  (And even then it was "iffy!")  I loved watching people that were so sure of themselves, so absolutely positive that they knew exactly where they were in this world, and where they planned to go.  Janet was one of these people.

Janet had a way of using this particular hard-headedness of hers to coerce you into a meal.  98% of the time if you were to visit her house, there would be some sort of food that she would offer up.  Whether it was leftovers from a meal just cooked that day, or something fresh-baked out of the oven, Janet was ALL about her food.  Nobody ever left hungry, that's for sure!

Recently, I have discovered a TV show that I am in love with.  Perhaps many of you have heard of it.  Glee.  A show with songs that describe every emotion you encounter within your life.  The chorus of a particular song, "Keep Holding On" is one that is applicable here.
 "Keep holding on

'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through

Just stay strong

'Cause you know I'm here for you, I'm here for you

There's nothing you could say

Nothing you could do

There's no other way when it comes to the truth

So keep holding on

'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through."

Janet was an amazing woman.  I am proud to be related to her.  I find I get many things from my grandfather, but with regards to being a woman, she one type I want to be.  Someone who has her head on straight, knows what she wants from life, and goes out there to make sure she gets it.  My mom is, of course, my first and foremost role model, but Janet is a very close second!

Remember Janet with peace and love.  Keep her close to your heart always, and remind those still left in this world how much they mean to you, as often as you can.  Life is short, and sometimes people we love are taken from us far too quickly.  Cherish them.   Love them.

Always and Forever,
Megan

House

WHY DOES FOX SUCK SO MUCH!!!! House was delayed due to Angels/Pats claiming superiority over the lives of everyone, and I am not too impressed.

At the moment (in case you cared) I am sitting on the couch, eating Jess' popcorn, and drinking B-town tap water. Yes, I am that classy. After listening to Ashley yell at the TV for the game to finish before she did something she was going to regret, we can finally sit back and enjoy the episode of House.

I miss Luke because I have not seen him in forever, and I miss not having my daily dose of Ryan. (OK, we don't actually meet THAT often, but close enough. "Where, oh, where of the boys all gone? Oh where, oh where can they beeeeeee????"

Oh, and I have come to a distinct conclusion. Apples to Apples is an EPIC game. When its still going strong at 4am you know THAT's some epicness that cannot be questioned. Ever. :)

I have also discovered that basicly I have no free time until after 2pm on Saturday. Sooo much for working on homework. Also, my PA job is conflicting with my scheduling of my work study hours (but then again, what else is new?)

I hope you all are having a fantastic midterm session.

I'm going to get back to watching House wallow in his excellence, and try to track down my boys. :)

xoxoxo

Another Day...and More Awesome Randomness. Also, Introductions Are In Order.

So, tonight at 308 Maple, we got our Tarot Cards read by Brooke.  She was DEAD-ON with every single one of my roommates (and Velvet.)  How AWESOME is that?  Words cannot define the AWESOMENESS and EXCELLENCE that is the accurateness of the tarot readings.

Before I get too much more into what happens and whom to, I will get into describing everyone.

Firstly, Hi! I'm Megan!  Nice to meet you!  Essentially, if you want to know about me, check out my profile here on Blogger.  I am a sophomore in the Social Work Major here at Champlain College.  308 Maple is my residence hall for this year (obviously) and it is AWESOME.  My life rocks.  I have a boyfriend named Luke, who I will describe next.  I was born and raised here in VT, and consider myself a native.

Luke- My excellent boyfriend.  I love him to death and he loves me back.  He is a redneck hick and does stupid shit to get an adrenaline rush.  Dirtbikes is an avid interest of his, and he loves the outdoors.  He is protective of those close to him, and will take a bullet for anybody he takes a shine to.  Stay on his good side--he can be lethal when he wants to be. ;)  Luke is also a fellow resident of VT.

Velvet- Does not live in 308, however she may as well.  When Velvet gets bored, she cleans up after us.  She is basicly like an older sister to everyone in this dorm, and we often look to her for logical advice on our respective issues.  From NY, Champlain College & VT are whole different cultures that she has to adjust to.  She is doing  a fantastic job so far, and although the snow gets a bit intense, she handles it as if she were a true Vermon'er!

Ashley- One of my actual roommates.  Although sometimes shy and a bit reserved, Ashely often has excellent input to whatever conversation happens to be going on.  As a Professional Writer major, she loves to focus on the fantasy world, and to bring the fantasy world into reality.  She loves to make us all laugh, and she has a very unhealthy obsession with chocolate.

Jess- My second roommate.  Jess=Superwoman.  After having overcome a tragic accident in her family in the past year, she still has the courage to move on and focus on the positives.  I really do look up to her, and I LOVE her personality.  She will get you motivated to do ANYTHING in your life...like it or not.  And as a Marketing major, she could sell icecubes to an Eskimo! :)  Jess is simply amazing, and the origional blogger of 308 Maple.  I recently have jumped on board as a secondary opinion and to let everyone know what happens from more than a single perception.

Ryan- Also not a resident of 308 Maple.  He spends every Wednesday night and some weekends here in the dorm, so we will consider him a part-time resident much in the way we consider Velvet a part-time resident.  A note about Ryan...he LOVES THEATRE!!!!  Musicals up the @ss, Sweeney Todd, Little Shop of Horrors, Hairspray, you name it, he loves it.  I went to the same middle school and high school that Ryan did, and we started becoming friends back in my 8th grade year (his 7th) in Music class.  In high school we both ended up in Select Choral Ensemble, and became friends with Eden.  Eden is not in the area, but she may be referenced once in a while...just FYI.

Brittany & Rachell- Our other suite members, but we don't see them very often.

These are all the residents of Feeley House that will be mentioned most often, the protaganists of the narrative so-to-speak.  Keep tuned for more awesome stories from 308 Maple!

Love,
Megan
